Growing Yard Long beans Easily In Container's

Yard long beans is one of the most easiest vegetables to grow in containers.

This was my first attempt and the result was quite good.

It is usually grown in summers and seeds can be sown in march. The seeds are quite big and remember, the bigger the seeds ,more  easily they sprout.

Yard long bean is a climber and you will have to make arrangements to enable the plant to climb easily.

Remember , You should only plant single pant in each container to get good results.

If you overcrowd the containers with 2 or 3 plants your yield will be very less.

Get good quality seeds and sow the seeds about an inch deep. They will sprout within 2 days.

Sunlight exposure : Partial Shade,Full Sun.
Water Needs : Medium.
Harvest Time : 45-60 days

This vine grows slowly initially.but later grows very fast and aggressively. After about 15 to 20 days it will start producing pink/purple flowers in bunch of 2.These buds drop off after drying and beans are produced.

Remember to pick up these beans when they are big and thick and seem filled with seeds.

They should be picked early for best taste and freshness.

Soil: Yard beans grows well in any soil type.

Planter: This plant requires medium planter,at least 8" or 10". It can also grow in small size planters but a bigger planter will help it grow much bigger and produce more beans.

Fertilizer: Yard beans will be more than happy just with regular compost or cow manure. No need to get stressed about fertilizing it with different fancy fertilizers.Simple compost will do the trick.

Water & Sunlight: Yard beans requires medium sunlight for more blooms but will also grow well in partial shade. If grown in partial shade it will produce less blooms. It hates full shade.Give it plenty of water.
Pests:Most of the vegetable plants are affected by pests. You can spray neem oil spray as a precautionary measure. But bean plants are quite safe from pests and not affected much.

So get going and start growing your organic beans now.
